Black cats started to get a bad reputation during the Middle Ages for their association with witches; shockingly some of the bias against them (and other black pets) has stuck around! Some consider them to be bad luck, others don't like how they photograph. Most people are shaking off the notion that black cats are unlucky and some even go to the opposite end of the spectrum and say they're good luck!
