Farewell 2024!

It was a whirlwind of a year:

• I celebrated one year with The Squeaky Wheel

• I was diagnosed and treated for an immune condition

• I joined the editorial board for The Squeaky Wheel

• I got rid of some nasty doctors

• I had my claw toe surgery

• I started dating again

• And more!

But, I have a feeling that this year will be even bigger & better! I feel like the world is opening up and there's a lot of potential ahead - I hope the same for you!

Enough about me - time to share 4 of the songs I listened to on repeat in 2024:

The Love You Want

This was by far my most listened to song of the year. Primarily because of this song, Amazon Music told me that I was in the top 0.1% of Sleep Token listeners!

What can I say? Playing a good song on repeat is easy dopamine

Come Through

Switching to a more danceable one now. I used to go dancing a lot in college, but haven't really since my injuries. I started listening to music one night and halfway through this song, I realized: I'm dancing!

Maybe I'll go out dancing this year!

The Black

I'd listened to a lot of metal (of course) and had heard of Imminence, but I got really into it this year! The combination of orchestral elements, like the strings, with metal is perfection to my metalhead music nerd ears! I would describe the metal and classical combo as “Devilish Debussy” or “Heavy Handel” or “Breakdowns and Bach” or……

I've never seen anyone play violin while yelling - until now…

In Circles

Much like Imminence, I'd listened to this band, but got really into them this year. Though they don't have string quartets, like Vessel of Sleep Token, Lucas Woodland has a fantastic voice that easily switches between clean and heavy voice. The lyrics are fantastic, which I appreciate as a writer!
